The sweet folks at Nature’s Path sent Jessica and I some natural, organic product samples which included toaster pastries. I was sort of shocked that they would send this kind of product to blog publishers who focus on healthy, natural foods. But, when Jessica pulled the shiny silver wrapped pastries from her goodie bag, I got pumped! I LOVE toaster pastries and now there is a truly “healthy” version! For years I have avoided these sinful delights because of all the processed, sugary ingredients, but no more my friends! After I gobbled up the samples (so delicious!), I quickly ran out to the store for another box. I don’t think Jessica was nearly as excited about them as I was, pppsssshhh! But, she did admit they were “very yummy” (yes, that is a direct quote).
At the store, I bought the cherry pomegranate iced toaster pastries. These babies are goooood. They are definitely comparable to the “real deal” but actually taste better! The fruit inside is plump and flavorful and the outside pastry is a tad denser than the regular. Each pastry has about 200 calories (it varies depending on the flavor) and is made with totally organic ingredients, real fruit, and no high fructose corn syrup or processed sugars. They are fairly calorie dense so I would recommend eating 1 at a time as a snack or paired with fruit or a smoothie for breakfast. They are really quite filling too! I had one this morning with a kiwi.
