No, I’m not just being cheeky, Hello Cupcake is one of the latest cupcake bakeries that have popped up in DC. I guess that cupcakes are the new big thing besides the thousands of yogurt places!
When my boyfriend had his birthday last week, I knew I had to get something special! I found out about Hello Cupcake and just had to try. Hello Cupcake is located on Connecticut Ave south of Dupont Circle. I walked up from work (right by the white house) and it only took about 20 minutes- I almost walked right by because it’s so new and is easy to pass so keep a look out!
I purchased six cupcakes and they are pricey- $3 per cupcake. Since this was a special occasion, it was definitely worth it.
We tried you tart! (lemon cupcake); the traditionals: vanilla cake with vanilla frosting, vanilla cake with chocolate frosting, chocolate chai, and the vegan chocolate cake with vanilla frosting.
These cupcakes were fantastic- I tried the vegan cupcake and the cake was moist without being overly sweet. Also, the chocolate icing on the cupcakes taste like actual chocolate- some places have the tendency to just make the icing taste sweet without any particular flavor. Although I do have to say I removed more than half of this frosting, looks pretty, but way too much! These were definitely really great cupcakes despite the insane amount of frosting! Pick these up for your next special occasion and you will not be disappointed.
