Grana Padano Cheese

I received cheese in the mail, a sample of Grana Padano. I’m a very, very lucky girl.


Doesn’t this beauty just break your heart? I’m not sure there’s anything more gorgeous than a hunk of fine cheese.

And Grana Padano is especially good, Italian cheese- apparently one of the most popular in Italy. As the name suggests, the texture is slightly grainy and crumbly, reminiscent of a good parmigiana-reggiano. The flavors are nutty, sweet and a bit salty. It pairs perfectly with pasta and other Italian foods.


I tested it out with Smitten Kitchen’s recipe for Pea Pesto Linguine (amazing recipe!). For me, this dish really sung with Grana Padano hitting all the right notes.


Please forgive my corny jokes. Coming off vacation, it has been a long week.

I love how rustic a big hunk of cheese looks. I’ve never heard of this kind of cheese, but if it’s like parm-regg, I’ll probably love it. Then again, I haven’t met a cheese I didn’t like ;)
