Those commercials are really funny. I just try to stay away from HFCS, but still have it once and a while.

Great post! I get asked this question A LOT!! High Fructose Corn Syrup is in almost everything... even some of my favorite whole grain bread products. The fact is a lot of unhealthy food products contain HFCS... so elimating these from our diet isn't a bad thing. People become obese because they are eating way too much food (HFCS)... so if they cut back on HFCS products, they would most likely be eating healthier, and lose some weight. As long as we eat 75-80% "real" food we should be good.

Great post Jess! I'd also like to point out the stronghold that the Corn lobby has on this country. Corn is in everything we eat- bread, sodas, etc when average, regined sugar could easily be used instead. If you travel abroad you will notice your Coke is sweatened with sugar-not high fructose corn syrup. This goes back to the politics that affect what we eat and how powerful lobbying groups and big corporations influence the ingredients that are in the foods we consume daily. I'll be reading and reviewing the Politics of Food next, so stay tuned!
