125 Best Packaged Foods

August 31, 2009

When I was reading through my latest issue of Women’s Health, I came across the list of the 125 best packaged foods for women. Although we all know that packaged foods are not the healthiest foods for us and we should try to eat as many whole foods as possible- I know that I rely on them for a quick snack or meal on the go. The list contains some of my favorites : Almond Breeze, chobani yogurt, Amy’s meals, Van’s waffles, pomegranate arils, and Annie’s mac & cheese!

Here is the FULL LIST of the 125 best packaged foods. Are your favorites on there or are there any missing? Personally, I think they should’ve included Purely decadent coconut ice cream on there- that stuff is addictive (although perhaps not the healthiest dessert treat)!

I read this article this weekend and was impressed by many of the food items that made the list. Usually those lists just include the really quick and easy processed foods but I was so happy that some of my favorites such as Almond Breeze made the list. I think the more publicity that those foods get the better! Even if some of the items contain ingredients that I don’t choose to eat I think the healthy message is getting across to the masses which is what matters!

I have to say thank you for sharing the link to this list. I took the time to check out the products, some I agree with and others not so much. I don’t think they did a very good job on explaining how they came to pick their items.

I mostly like this list, as it doesn’t focus on organic/all-natural/blah blah products as the be-all and end-all for healthy food. The whole-wheat cinnamon raisin bread looks delish!!

Wow, what a great idea! While I know packaged is not the way to go, it’s nice to have a handy list like that in a pinch.

Thanks for sharing! :D
