The Mighty Turmeric

March 23, 2009

Just the other day, a good friend was telling me about the health benefits of eating Turmeric. I was surprised and intrigued, so I did a little research of my own and here’s what I found. But, let’s back up just a min…for those of you who don’t eat much indian food, or who just don’t know what the hec you are eating when you eat indian cuisine, I introduce you to the mighty tumeric. Tumeric has made quite a name for itself in the medical/scientific community as being somewhat of a cure-all. Studies have shown that turmeric may be a preventor of alzheimer’s disease, a risk reducer for strokes, a cure for arthritis, and the list goes on and on. And let’s not forget that this spice tasts great on almost any meat or veggie dish, adding depth and warmth. My friend told me that she now sprinkles a dash of turmeric on dinner each night for its health benefits and great flavor. I think I’m going to start doing the same!100px-turmeric-powder
