Here’s a little trick I learned from one of my Chinese friends. She learned it from her mother.
When chopping onions, set them aside in a bowl of cold water. The water squelches the acid and odor that stings the eyes. I’ve tried a million tricks to remedy onion eye burn- I’ve even tried wearing sunglasses in the kitchen- but nothing has worked until now. Thanks Jia!
