Scenes of an Engagement Party

This is a good one, I promise! Ok, so what do you get when you pack 30 people into a 750 square foot apartment, let the booze flow, toss in some cheesy papusas, and fun tunes???  Our engagement party!

As you may know, I am engaged to a wonderful man and we live in a tiny D.C. apt with our pup. Last weekend, in honor of our recent engagement, my mother came to town and helped us throw a party.

I was worried that it wouldn’t work. The entire day was booked with bridal appointments and when we finally finished, I was so exhausted I would hardly lift my arms, much less prepare a fabulous meal for our guests.

So…we ordered out! And it was perfection.

We called up a whole-in-the-wall place up the street and ordered mountains of papusas (black bean, cheese, and jalapeno), chips, salsa, and guacamole. The food was a hit and by the end of the night, there was nary a scrap left!

We served ice cold Mexican beer. Another hit!

Space was once again a concern. I didn’t know how we would manage to maximize space so that guests could enjoy the party without being crammed face to face. We solved this problem by creating stations so that people wouldn’t congregate in one spot.  There was a food station, a beer station and…

A margarita station! Ole!

The party was a great success. After a long day of dress shopping, it was the perfect way to spend the evening.  Friends, family, and good food!

Here are some of my favorite scenes from the night.

The hosts, yours truly.

And our guests.

Congrats on the engagement and party wooo! Mexican food in DC is pretty fantastic I have to say. Some place in Georgetown called the Cactus something-or-other? They make their own tortillas, yum!

Sad she couldn’t attend, but no room for all those people and a little fur ball!
