Ravioli Review & arugula salad

by Jennifer on April 26, 2009

I’m always on the look out for new pasta products and when I saw this one, I knew I had to try it. Rising Moon Organics makes a variety of pasta including ravioli. This one is Garlic and Mozzarella filling with Merlot Wine pasta.

The ravioli package contains two servings and I just divided the package and froze the leftovers for another day! I was very happy with the ravioli, not only was the filling smooth and garlicky, it paired perfectly with my favorite marinara sauce! However, my one gripe is that I couldn’t really taste the merlot in the pasta, but it may have been because of my marinara sauce on top. Either way, I will be trying this ravioli again!

I paired this with one of my favorite simple salads to make. I got the idea for this salad when my Mom and I ate at an italian restaurant a few years ago. Although it seemed too simple to be tasty, it works magically. All the salad consists of is a lemon vinaigrette, parmesan cheese, and arugula with fresh cracked black pepper. I prefer shaved parmesan cheese, but sprinkled cheese is what I had on hand. My lemon vinaigrette, good for one serving, contains 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, 3 teaspoons of extra virgin olive oil, small squeeze of honey. Yum!

I love making my own sauce too, it’s definitely yummy, you can add any ingredients you want, and it’s cheaper than buying sauce in a jar!
