Last Saturday night my cutie took me out for date night at Cork.
Cork is a popular wine bar serving upscale tapas (small plate) dishes. Cork is cozing, charming and totally adorable. Located on the up and coming intesection of 14th and V st. NW
My boyf and I toasted the night with wine flights (he had red and I had white).
The flights were delicious and only about $15 each. We started our meal with mesculin green salads with a light and citrus vinagrette.
Then, we moved on to bruchetta made with marinated tomatoes and goat cheese. These were incredibly toasty and flavorful.
Next, we moved on to ultra crispy french fries topped with course sea salt and lemon zest, served with a side of homemade ketchup (made with a hint of indian spices). The fries were exquisite, perfect for a chilly spring night. After the fries, we ordered the fried calamari. This was not your average greasy calamari. This dish was light, with large pieces of calamari with an ultra flavorful batter and fresh, light dill sauce for dipping. This was one of my favorites of the night.
We finished off the meal with a cheese plate featuring some pungent, creamy, divine goat, cow and sheep’s milk cheeses. Accompaniements were brilliant- sugared pecans, toasted raisin bread, honey and balsamic reduction- adding depth and flavor to each cheese. This dish was the highlight of the night.
After dinner, we walked a few blocks down to ACKC, our favorite chocolate shop in D.C. We sampled delicious chocolates filled with lavendar, lemon oil, rose water, salted caramels, etc. The chocolate was rich, smooth and heavenly. I ordered a spicy hot chocolate to go with our decadent dessert. It was the perfect way to end our decadent date night.
