My popcorn is like crack. All my friends are addicted. It’s the perfect snack to sneak into movies or eat late night when you are hungry but don’t want a meal. It’s amazing and my friends request my special popcorn almost every time we get together.
Here’s how you make it:
Coat the bottom of a small/med sized pot with olive oil. You don’t need a lot of oil, but just enough to cover the bottom of the pot well. Next, coat the bottom of the pot evenly with white corn kernels (white kernels pop up lighter and fluffier than yellow, but you could def use yellow too). You want to make sure that you have an even layer of kernels so that kernels aren’t bunched on top of each other. Put a lid on the pot and turn up your burner to med high heat. After a min or two you will hear the kernels start to pop slowly, then speed up to a rapid pop. Listen closely (the secret to popping perfect popcorn is patience and paying close attn!). When the popping sound slows down and you hear pauses between each pop, it is time to take the pot off the burner. Pour the popcorn in to a large bowl and sprinkle with course salt and fresh cracked pepper. You can use a variety of toppings such as parmesean cheese, cinnamon/sugar, curry powder, paprika or hot red pepper flakes! yum! get popping!
