Inspired by the fact that nearly all of us are scrambling for cash these days due to the economic downturn, we’ve decided to do something new with the blog. Don’t worry, we will keep our familiar format, but we want to add a weekly feature to showcase simple, cheap, and delicious recipes. We are calling it Simple Sustenance and each week we will provide you with a recipe that uses only a handful of ingredients and costs $5 or less to make. After all, the purpose of this blog is to serve our readers by giving you information about food so that you can make the right choices for you. We want to give you a stockpile of recipes that you can whip up at a moment’s notice without breaking the bank. This feature will also teach you how to make the most out of what you have already sitting on the pantry shelf. Simple Sustenance will give you quick, easy and inexpensive recipe ideas for the non-chef on a tight budget. These recipes will be complete meals-no side dishes, desserts, cocktails etc. We will provide the recipes every hump-day when you’ve probably already run out of steam in the kitchen and are tempted to pick up the phone and order out. Don’t do it! Save that cash! Just get online and look for Keep It Simple Foods weekly Simple Sustenance recipe. We hope you will find our recipes helpful and delicious.
Look for our first Simple Sustenance recipe starting next Wed!
*The price of the ingredients will be calculated in each posting. Minimal amounts of cooking oil, butter, and seasonings will not be included as ingredients since these are staple items that evey cook should have on hand and cost would be difficult to tally. Sales tax will also be excluded.
