Last Wed night (just before leaving to go on my vacay) my boyfriend and I had a pizza emergency. Rather, I had an emergency and believe it or not, pizza was the solution! While walking my boyfriend’s dog (because I’m such a good girlfriend), last Wed, I cut my hand severely and had to be taken to the ER for stitches. My boyfriend and I arrived around 6:30pm and after 6 long hours and 5 stitches, we were finally on our way home. It was after midnight. Our bellys were empty, our moods were grumpy and we needed something to restore our spirits fast. All the decent restaurants were closed and it was too late to cook up a full meal, but then we saw it. JUMBO SLICE! If you live in D.C. you know that Jumbo Slice is the infamous, late night, post-bar, eat it when you are totally wasted at 3pm, soggy, doughy pizza. My boyfriend and I weren’t pumped about the idea, but we were desperate. We found a little place on the corner of 18th and Florida Ave NW that charged only $4 a slice. The slices were HUGE- about 1/2 the size of a large pizza box and were surprisingly delicious! The crust was thin and crispy, not doughy like the usual Jumbo Slice. My boyfriend and I both ordered cheese to please and had no regrets or late night stomach aches. Check out how large the slice was and I ate the whole thing! Just what the doctor ordered!
