This is why I love summer.
Ice cream floats remind me of childhood.
Ice cream and cherry and cola. Oh my.
There’s really no trick to it. Stuff a jam jar with as much vanilla bean ice cream as it will hold.
Pour the cola over top. (This cola is clear because it has no caramel coloring.)
Watch as a cloud of fizz grows before your eyes.
Add a sprig of mint or basil. Garnish like a grown up.
Indulge like a kid.

Where did you get the clear cola from?
Whole Foods.
I love floats… cola, rootbeer, cherry… delish!
Your photos make me salivate! There is nothing more that says summer than a float of any kind–and cherry soda and vanilla ice cream sounds like a winning combination!
Thanks Leslie! Love this flavor combo!
I can’t wait to make floats with my kids this summer. Thanks for the inspiration! Love the clear soda.
You could do all kinds of soda, each kid’s favorite! Enjoy!
This is SO fun! It makes me think of diners or an old fashioned malt shoppe!
Can you believe I’ve never had an ice cream float or root beer float…or any float ever? :\ I was a deprived child. But I won’t be a deprived adult. This sounds delicious and refreshing!
You need to try this, stat!
Yummmm. This looks delicious! And I NEED to get some mason jars.
You can always wash out old jam jars once you’ve eaten all the jam. They are great for drinking/serving cups and storage!
This would make me feel like a kid!
Cola floats were an absolute must during summers in my childhood too and it always has to be vanilla ice cream. Always.
Agreed!
