Refreshing Lemon Sparkler

March 30, 2011

I was perusing my Southern Living magazine the other day and found a recipe for a lemonade cocktail of sorts. It sounded amazing, but (per usual) I didn’t have half the ingredients needed so I made my own version. I’m seriously beginning to wonder why I even bother with recipes. I never follow them. Never.

All you need to make this cocktail is some white wine, a lemon, a splash of club soda and a sprig of mint.

Lucky for me I had wine in the house. No surprise there.

Any old wine will do. No need to get fancy.

Pour about a half glass of wine and add squeeze of lemon juice and a splash of soda.

Mix and add a bit of ice if desired.

Garnish with mint and sip till your heart’s content.

Love this drink for a picnic or back yard barbecue. Tis the season… well, almost!

i’ll be honest, i dont really like white wine. too sweet for me. but i do like lemonade. just saved it to my online cookbook ( I’ll give it a shot, but if the wine thing doesn’t work i might just sub for vodka. ;)

You could always use a dry white wine. Vodka sounds very tempting!

I’m dreaming of making this drink with some of the cheap white wine we have and sipping it out on our deck….and it’s warm and sunny. Those days can’t be too far away, right?

I sincerely hope not!

Genius! You know, you never really hear about wine being mixed with anything, but that sounds so unbelievably refreshing!

At first glance I figured it would be lemonade with fizzy water, but add wine and so much better! We’ve not done many wine-based drinks — only sangria once or twice, and since I’m not a fan of hard liquor (“hidden” in a drink or not), this is about as mixed as it’s going to get. An excuse to buy more white wine!

Love any excuse (or none) to have wine!

Sans the white wine, this looks awesome!

You could easily do this booze free. :)
